Biography

Tania Gill is a Toronto-based jazz pianist, improviser, and composer, known for her work in original, experimental, and traditional music across various genres. She leads and composes for the Tania Gill Quartet, which includes prominent musicians such as Lina Allemano on trumpet, Nico Dann on drums, and Rob Clutton on bass. Her debut album, 'Bolger Station' released through Barnyard Records, was nominated in the Village Voice jazz critics' poll and named the Globe and Mail disc-of-the-week. Tania has performed, recorded, and toured as a member of several notable bands and projects, including the Brodie West Quintet, Flying Bulgar Klezmer Band, and participated in events such as Steve Reich’s 80th birthday concert at Massey Hall. In addition to her performance career, Tania is dedicated to education with degrees in Jazz Performance from both the University of Toronto (MMus) and McGill University (BMus).
