Biography

Tanja Dominko is a Professor in the Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences. She received her PhD in Endocrinology-Reproductive Physiology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Dominko has over 25 years of experience in conducting research and teaching in the biomedical sciences. Previously, she was a professor at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, MA. Her research spans scientific engineering disciplines, investigating basic and applied research in the fields of cell biology, assistive reproductive technologies, wound healing, fibrosis, stem cells, regenerative medicine, and skin and muscle tissue engineering. Currently, her laboratory focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms that guide phenotype decisions in fibroblasts and the effects of fibroblast heterogeneity on nuclear reprogramming and pluripotent stem cell induction through somatic cell nuclear transfer. Additionally, Dr. Dominko leads the UW Center for Biomedical Swine Research and Innovation, which is dedicated to developing genetically engineered swine models for biomedical pre-clinical translational research.
