Dr. Tanmoy Mukhopadhyay

Biography

Tanmoy Mukhopadhyay is a Lecturer B in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at the University of Southampton. His research interests lie in structural mechanics, mechanical metamaterials, and mechanics of composites. With a strong academic background, he completed his PhD at Swansea University, where he was awarded the prestigious Zienkiewicz Scholarship, which covered full international tuition fees and living expenses. Prior to his current role, he served as an Assistant Professor in the Aerospace Engineering Department at IIT Kanpur and worked as a postdoctoral research fellow in the Engineering Science Department at the University of Oxford. Throughout his academic career, he has published extensively in reputed journals and has been involved in high-quality research that addresses real-world challenges. His current research focuses on multi-functional composites and their applications, including energy harvesting and advanced material structures. He is also a member of various research groups and has delivered research projects aimed at innovating in the field of mechanical metamaterials. Driven by a passion for teaching and research, Mukhopadhyay aims to contribute to advancements in materials science and engineering.
