Biography

Tanuj Nakra, M.D., FACS, is an Assistant Professor at Dell Medical School, specializing in facial cosmetic and ophthalmic plastic surgery. He has practiced since 2008 and is recognized as a Top Doctor by Texas Monthly, Austin Monthly, and Castle Connolly. In addition to his role at Dell Med, he serves as the director of an accredited fellowship by the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and is a fellowship preceptor for the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Nakra is an accomplished speaker at major conferences worldwide, where he trains surgeons in advanced techniques. He has authored 70 peer-reviewed scientific articles and has been the principal investigator in numerous grant-supported research projects in reconstructive and cosmetic surgery. He has been actively involved in various leadership positions, including serving on the executive committee of the American Board of Facial Cosmetic Surgery and as a board director for the Cosmetic Surgery Foundation. He co-founded AVYA Skincare, a medical-grade Ayurvedic skincare brand, and Global Cosmetic Surgery, an international virtual medical educational platform. Nakra completed his residency and fellowship training at UCLA and has held faculty positions there before establishing his private practices in Beverly Hills and Santa Barbara, and eventually moving to Austin. Outside of medicine, he enjoys the fine arts and music, is an avid trail runner and marathoner, and enjoys spending time with his family and rescue dog.
