Biography

Tanvi Taparia currently leads the 'Plant-Microbiome' team in the Department of Microbiology at the University of Copenhagen. Her research focuses on harnessing the potential of microbes at the plant-soil interface for food and agricultural applications. She aims to develop sustainable systemic solutions that facilitate the green transition in food systems. Tanvi is a committed communicator, actively participating in outreach and popular science, and has organized various scientific conferences, research networks, and workshops in India, Sweden, the Netherlands, and Denmark. Her primary research interests include agro-ecological issues, microbial ecology, soil ecology, plant pathology, and chemical ecology, which are reflected in her diverse projects involving plant microbiomes, food safety, production, soil health, and waste valorization in circular agriculture. Currently, she is involved in a project focusing on biopesticide discovery, including the isolation, characterization, and screening of novel soil bacteria to design small communities that synergistically prevent disease outbreaks. Additionally, she is a co-founder and co-organizer of the BIO Postdoc Network, a support network for young researchers at the University of Copenhagen.
