Dr. Tao Liu

Biography

Tao Liu is a Professor of Biostatistics and the Director of the Online Master’s Program at Brown University. He earned his PhD in Biostatistics from the University of Pennsylvania. His research interests lie in health data science, focusing on clinical decision-making, incomplete data problems, causal inference, diagnostic testing, and the design of clinical trials. He is actively involved in various research projects, including examining HIV treatment monitoring strategies, family interventions to prevent STIs, and maximizing supportive care for patients with Ebola Virus Disease. Liu has contributed significantly to the field with numerous presentations and publications, addressing critical public health challenges. He participates in various research consortiums affiliated with Brown University and serves on the faculty of the Brown Data Science Institute and the Lifespan/Boston/Brown Center for AIDS Research (CFAR). Liu has received awards for his excellence in research and teaching throughout his career and continues to innovate in biostatistical applications and methodologies.
