Biography

Tao Ma is a Senior Lecturer in the Daniel J. Epstein Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Southern California. Before joining USC, he served as a full-time lecturer at the School of Engineering and Design at the Technical University of Munich from 2018 to 2022, and subsequently at the Ingram School of Engineering at Texas State University from 2022 to 2024. In early 2022, he was a Research Fellow at the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Ma earned both his Ph.D. and Master of Applied Science degrees from the University of Toronto. His research interest encompasses various facets of Statistics and Probability, Statistical/Machine Learning, Operations Research, Optimization, and Data Mining, focusing on topics such as predictive analytics and time series forecasting, including network-level traffic state prediction and transportation systems modeling.
