Biography

Tao Zhang is a Lecturer in Flight Sciences at the James Watt School of Engineering, University of Glasgow. He is a member of the Flight Sciences Group within the Autonomous Systems & Connectivity Division. His research primarily focuses on high-fidelity computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and computational aero-acoustics (CAA). He is involved in multi-disciplinary analysis and optimization (MDAO) and the design of future flight aerial systems like eVTOLs (electric Vertical Take-off and Landing), Advanced Air Mobility, helicopters, and drones. He received the prestigious Gareth Padfield Award in 2023 at the 49th European Rotorcraft Forum for a study related to multi-rotor eVTOL aircraft in collaboration with GKN Aerospace. He holds a PhD in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Glasgow, obtained in 2022, and has published around 30 research papers in top aerospace journals. He is actively seeking motivated PhD candidates for supervision and enjoys collaborating with others in the field. Tao has made significant contributions to teaching and research and has been recognized with several awards during his career.
