Biography

Tara Behrend is the John Richard Butler II Endowed Professor at the School of Human Resources and Labor Relations at Michigan State University. She is currently serving as President of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP). Behrend's research group, Workplaces Virtual Environments Lab, focuses on the ethical, social, and psychological implications of workplace technologies. She is recognized as an expert in areas such as electronic surveillance and human-AI interactions, often speaking to policymakers and audiences worldwide. Behrend has served as Program Director at the National Science Foundation and chaired the Future of Work working group overseeing the Science of Organizations program. She is a Fellow at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University and an elected board member of the National Academies Board on Human-Systems Integration.
