Biography

Tara Burke is an Associate Professor and Director of the Psychology Law (PAL) Lab at Toronto Metropolitan University, where she also serves as the Undergraduate Program Director for the Department of Psychology. She earned her PhD in Social Psychology from the University of Toronto. Her doctoral research focused on the effects of pre-trial publicity on jurors' verdicts. Currently, her research interests lie in evaluating jury processes, jury selection, the impact of pre-trial publicity on juror verdicts, the use of alibi evidence, and factors contributing to wrongful convictions. Furthermore, she is a member of a SSHRC-funded Major Collaborative Research Grant (MCRI) that examines the role of technology in the courtroom (Cyberjustice). In addition to her research, Professor Burke teaches a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses, including Social Psychology, Law, and Professional Issues, as well as a Teaching Practicum.
