Dr. Tara Grove

Biography

Tara Leigh Grove, Vinson & Elkins Chair Law Professor at the University of Texas School of Law, focuses her research on the federal judiciary, interpretive theory, and constitutional separation of powers. She has published in prestigious law journals including the Harvard Law Review and Columbia Law Review, and has received numerous awards for her research and teaching. In 2021, she served on the Presidential Commission on the Supreme Court of the United States, a bipartisan commission responsible for examining proposals for Supreme Court reform. Grove is also co-author of the leading federal courts casebook, 'Federal Courts Law: Federal-State Relations', and has served as Chair of the Federal Courts Section of the Association of American Law Schools. Additionally, she has held visiting professorships at Harvard Law School and Northwestern Pritzker School of Law. Grove graduated summa cum laude from Duke University and magna cum laude from Harvard Law School, where she also served as Chair of the Harvard Law Review. Her professional experience includes clerking for Judge Emilio Garza on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and working as an attorney in the Civil Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, where she argued fifteen cases before various courts of appeals.
