Biography

Dr. Tara Horrill is an assistant professor at the College of Nursing at the University of Manitoba. Her research takes a critical approach in investigating health inequities in the context of cancer care systems, with a particular focus on equitable access to cancer care through equity-oriented approaches. Dr. Horrill's doctoral research centered on the inequities in access to oncology care for Indigenous Peoples in Canada, earning her a nomination for the University of Manitoba Distinguished Dissertation award and a Governor General's Gold Medal. Her postdoctoral research at the University of British Columbia/BC Cancer focused on understanding organizational factors impacting the uptake of equity-oriented healthcare strategies in cancer care. Currently, Dr. Horrill is engaged in collaborative research and knowledge mobilization initiatives involving interdisciplinary researchers, healthcare practitioners, health system leaders, and policymakers to generate evidence-informed improvements that strategically address health inequities in the cancer care sector.
