Dr. Tara Javidi

Biography

Tara Javidi is a Professor and the Founding Faculty Fellow at the Halıcıoğlu Data Science Institute, University of California, San Diego. She is a co-director of the Center for Machine-Integrated Computing Security at UC San Diego. Her research focuses on stochastic analysis, design, and control of information collection, processing, and transfer in modern communication networked systems. She has worked on a variety of projects, including DetecDrone, which involves target search technology using drones. Javidi's interests encompass information acquisition and utilization, such as active hypothesis testing and variable-length coding with channels that have feedback, optimal routing for wireless mesh networks, cognitive delay-sensitive communications networking, as well as applications related to microeconomic theory, organizational science, and the design of wireless networks. Her work also includes areas relevant to active learning theory, statistical inference, and information theory, particularly concerning feedback and stochastic control theory in wireless communications and networks.
