Biography

Tara Mulqueen is an Associate Professor at the University of Warwick, where she serves as Co-Director of the Warwick Law Community (LinC). Her research primarily focuses on legal needs, public legal education, and the history of the law centers movement. She is currently leading a project funded by the Nuffield Foundation, titled 'Understanding Local Legal Needs: Early Intervention Ecosystem Legal Support,' which examines the lived experiences of marginalized communities and the role of trusted intermediaries in supporting access to justice. Tara has also developed an innovative experiential module on Public Legal Education, working with local organizations to enhance the understanding of social welfare law. Her additional research interests include the history of the co-operative movement in the United Kingdom and how legal recognition shapes alternatives to capitalism. Tara holds a PhD in Law, an MRes in Law with Distinction from Birkbeck College, and a BA (Hons) in Political Science from Brooklyn College, City University of New York.
