Biography

Tara K Puri is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of English at the University of Bristol, specializing in Victorian literature and women's writing. She holds a BA and MA from the University of Delhi and a PhD from the University of Kent. Tara joined the University of Bristol in January 2016 after serving as a Global Research Fellow at the Institute of Advanced Study, University of Warwick. Her current research focuses on Victorian literature and culture, specifically the construction of selfhood in the context of late 19th and early 20th century texts. She is preparing a monograph titled 'Legible Bodies: Dress, Desire and Female Self in Victorian Literature and Culture,' which explores themes of identity and representation. Tara has taught various undergraduate units, including 'Literature 1740-1900', 'Sex and Gender at the Fin de Siècle', 'Women's Writing', and 'Victorian Materialities'. She welcomes doctoral research inquiries in the fields of 19th-century literature and Anglo-phone cultures.
