Biography

Tarik Möröy is the fourth president and permanent scientific director of the Institute of Clinical Research of Montreal (IRCM). He is the director of the research unit in hematopoiesis and cancer and holds a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Hematopoiesis and Differentiation of Immune Cells. His publication record includes over 300 titles, 127 of which are original articles published in peer-reviewed journals, alongside review articles and presentations at conferences. Möröy obtained a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich, Germany. His doctoral research was conducted at the Institut Pasteur in Paris, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at Columbia University in New York. He returned to Germany in 1991 to lead an independent junior team at Philipps University Marburg, where he also completed his habilitation in molecular biology and immunology. He became an associate professor in 1995 and a full professor in cellular and molecular biology at the University of Duisburg-Essen, where he also held administrative positions within the institute.
