Biography

Tariq Amin-Khan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Politics and Public Administration at Toronto Metropolitan University, where he is also a faculty member in the Yeates School of Graduate Studies. He is an honorary member of the Osgoode Hall Graduate Studies in Law program at York University. Tariq holds a PhD in Social Political Thought from York University, a Master’s degree in South Asian Studies from the University of Toronto, a Bachelor of Law from the University of Karachi, and a Bachelor of Science in Economics and General Business from California State University, Fresno. He is a founding member of the Anti-Racism Coalition at Toronto Metropolitan University and currently serves as the Chair of the Equity Issues Committee of the Toronto Metropolitan University Faculty Association. His research interests cover various topics, including security state securitization, post-colonial state, international development, globalization, migration, political militant Islam, nationalism, ethnicity, and comparative multiculturalism, employing a political economy and social history analytical framework. Over the past twelve years, Tariq has taught and developed courses on Issues in World Politics, International Development Studies, Nationalism and Identity, Theories of the State, and more, while supervising dissertation committees and various student thesis projects.
