Biography

Tarmo K Remmel is a Professor in the Department of Geography at York University, with a strong academic background that includes a B.E.S. (honours) from the University of Waterloo in Geography with a minor in Geology, an M.Sc.F. from Lakehead University in Forestry, and a Ph.D. in Geography from the University of Toronto. His research interests prominently feature Remote Sensing, Spatial Pattern Analysis, and the study of Forest Disturbances within the realms of Geography, GIS, and Geomatics. Professor Remmel has been involved in numerous research projects, including assessing forest disturbance recovery, analyzing climate change effects on ecosystems, and developing comprehensive databases of boreal forest disturbances. He has published extensively in esteemed journals, contributing significantly to the field with studies that utilize advanced methodologies such as deep learning and statistical analysis of spatial patterns.
