Dr. Tasha Jarisz

Biography

Tasha Jarisz is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Victoria. She holds a PhD from the University of Victoria and specializes in general, analytical, and environmental chemistry, as well as spectroscopy. Her research interests focus on the impact of incorporating peer teaching in classroom student engagement and learning autonomy. She is particularly interested in studying the effects of using authentic assessments on students’ ability to achieve higher-order learning outcomes and their motivation to learn. As an educator, she teaches courses in general, analytical, physical, and environmental chemistry, emphasizing active learning strategies to foster student success and engagement in the sciences.
