Biography

Tatiana Erukhimova received her Ph.D. in Physics from the Russian Academy of Sciences in 1999 and joined Texas A&M University (TAMU) in 2001. She organizes the annual Physics & Engineering Festivals which have been attended by thousands of visitors. In 2007, she developed the Physics Show, an interactive presentation involving physics demonstrations and hands-on exhibits, reaching over 30,000 people. In 2012, Tatiana initiated an innovative program called Discover, Explorer, Enjoy Physics & Engineering (DEEP), which engages students through hands-on teamwork and outreach activities. Additionally, she is a co-organizer of the Mitchell Institute Physics Enhancement Program (MIPEP), which includes annual summer boarding schools for physics teachers in Texas high schools. Tatiana has served as a TEDxTAMU speaker in 2016 and is the namesake of the 2019 Fish Camp. She co-authored the undergraduate textbook Atmospheric Thermodynamics, published by Cambridge University Press in 2009. Currently, she teaches calculus-based introductory physics classes covering Mechanics and Electricity & Magnetism. In 2022, she was awarded the inaugural Marsha L. ’69 Ralph F. Schilling ’68 Chair in Physics Outreach and has received numerous awards for her teaching and outreach efforts, including the 2023 APS Dwight Nicholson Medal and the 2024 AAPT Halliday Resnick Award.
