Biography

Taylor C. Steele is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of New Brunswick. He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from McMaster University, awarded in 2019, and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of New Brunswick, obtained in 2013. His research focuses on structural engineering, particularly in the areas of controlled rocking systems, earthquake resilience, and advanced simulation of structures under strong seismic events. Dr. Steele is involved in seismic risk assessment for both new and existing buildings and is actively engaged in experimental testing of structural components and systems. He is a member of the CSA S16 Clause 27 Task Group 6 and the Currie Scholarship Selection Committee at UNB. In addition to his research and teaching responsibilities, he is affiliated with the Canadian Association for Earthquake Engineering and the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction.
