Biography

Teevrat Garg is an Associate Professor at the School of Global Policy and Strategy at UC San Diego. His research focuses on environmental policy and energy transitions in low- and middle-income countries. He works directly with regional governments and utilities to understand climate adaptation and decarbonization strategies. In recent years, he has conducted research in countries such as India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Mexico, Uganda, and Vietnam. Garg's work has been published in leading academic journals and has been covered by prominent media outlets including The New York Times and Science magazine. He also engages in policy as an academic advisor for the Green Growth Initiative at the International Growth Center and serves as a technical contributor to the fifth National Climate Assessment. Additionally, he is currently an editor for the Journal of the Association of Environmental Resource Economists. Prior to his role at UC San Diego, Teevrat was a postdoctoral fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He holds a Ph.D. in Applied Economics and Management from Cornell University and a B.A. in Economics (with honors) and a B.S. in Mathematics from Lafayette College.
