Dr. Teneille Gofton

Biography

Teneille Gofton completed medical school at Dalhousie University followed by Neurology residency training at Western University. She has undergone dual fellowship training in Hospice Palliative Medicine at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and in Neurocritical Care and Electroencephalography at Western University. Currently, she serves as an Associate Professor at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at Western University in the Department of Clinical Neurological Sciences, having been a faculty member since 2012. Dr. Gofton is also the acting director of the Neurocritical Care fellowship training program. Throughout her career, she has been an invited speaker at multiple national and international meetings and has received research grant support from various national funding agencies. Her research interests encompass neurocritical care and neuropalliative care. In the realm of neurocritical care, Dr. Gofton's work focuses on disorders of consciousness, status epilepticus, and the neurophysiology related to deceased organ donation. In neuropalliative care, she explores the challenges and barriers to initiating palliative care in patients with serious neurological illnesses and aims to enhance neuropalliative education for trainees.
