Biography

Teodora Todorova joined the Department of Sociology at the University of Warwick as an Assistant Professor in August 2023, having previously served as a Teaching Fellow since September 2016. Her research and teaching focus encompass transnational civil society, activist mobilization, human rights violations, and the gendered and racialized dimensions of state violence. She is an author working on a book titled 'Decolonial Human Rights Education' and serves as a co-editor for 'Reading Decoloniality,' an open-source publication aimed at investigating decolonial texts across various disciplines. Her experience includes lecturing at the University of Nottingham from 2014 to 2016 and teaching in the Department of Culture, Film, and Media prior to that. Dr. Todorova completed her PhD in Critical Theory in 2013, with an MA in Post-Conflict Cultures in 2009 and a BA with Honours in Social Cultural Studies from the University of Nottingham. Throughout her academic career, she has actively engaged in public outreach and pedagogy, having served in various leadership roles within the British Society for Middle Eastern Studies, including council member and chair of the Public Outreach Pedagogy sub-committee. Teodora has received multiple nominations for teaching excellence at Warwick and was involved in several publicly engaged seminars addressing critical frameworks surrounding settler colonial theory and its implications in Israeli-Palestinian contexts.
