Teresa M. Bejan is a Professor of Political Theory at the University of Oxford and a fellow at Oriel College. She is recognized for her expertise in the historical contexts of contemporary political theory, particularly in areas including free speech, civility, tolerance, and equality. Bejan's notable publications include her book, 'Mere Civility: Disagreement and the Limits of Toleration' (2017), which delves into the relationship between civility and religious toleration as prescribed by 17th-century debates. Her upcoming book, tentatively titled 'Equals', investigates the history of modern egalitarianism, which is set to be published by Harvard University Press in 2023.
