Dr. Teresa Bruggeman

Biography

Teresa M. Bruggeman, Ph.D., RN, is an Assistant Professor Emerita at the University of Michigan School of Nursing. With a PhD in Physiology, her expertise lies in understanding chronic inflammation, immune responses, and their connections to atherosclerosis. Dr. Bruggeman's research focuses on the maladaptive aspects of inflammatory immune responses and multi-systems interactions, emphasizing the mediators of chronic inflammation that affect multiple systems' functions. She has developed online educational modules and lectures aimed at enhancing the understanding of the cardiovascular system in relation to immune responses. Her teaching is complemented by extensive course materials that incorporate visual presentations and anatomical structures. Dr. Bruggeman has also played a significant role in curriculum development for both graduate and undergraduate programs at the School of Nursing. Her contributions to the field and the academic community are marked by her involvement in various committees and advisory boards throughout her career, including her service on the Curriculum Committee.
