Biography

Teresa Carvajal joined the Agricultural and Biological Engineering faculty at Purdue University in 2010. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Pharmaceutical Biology from the National University of Mexico, and obtained her Master's in Pharmaceutics with a minor in Physical Chemistry from the University of Arizona. She completed her Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Technology at the University of Bath, UK. Prior to her graduate studies, Dr. Carvajal worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 12 years, primarily with Hoffmann-LaRoche and Bayer Pharmaceuticals. She has extensive experience in industrial pharmacy and joined the Industrial and Physical Pharmacy department at Purdue in 2003, where she holds a special faculty position. Her research focuses on Surface Science in Pharmaceutical, Food, and Agricultural Materials, emphasizing powder technology, particle interactions, and the effects of mechanical stress on organic crystalline materials. She collaborates across disciplines to enhance the practical significance of her work in fields such as food safety and pharmaceutical applications.
