Dr. Teresa Chahine

Biography

Teresa Chahine is a Senior Lecturer in Social Entrepreneurship at the Yale Jackson School of Global Affairs and the faculty director of the Social Innovation Initiative. She authored the book 'Social Entrepreneurship: Building Impact Step by Step'. Her research emphasizes the development of tools to characterize and advance social and environmental determinants of health. Chahine launched a social entrepreneurship program in the context of public health at Harvard University and has been instrumental in establishing a venture philanthropy organization in her home country of Lebanon, which provides tailored financing and critical management support to social enterprises serving marginalized populations, especially in education and job creation for youth and women. She has published widely on subjects such as financing, measuring, and scaling social impact, and has collaborated with various organizations including the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the United Nations Population Fund, and the Lebanese Ministry of Social Affairs. Her work has also involved partnerships with global institutions like the Malaysian Directors Academy, Sichuan University, and the Kazakhstan School of Public Health, in addition to the Amani Institute in Brazil.
