Biography

Teri Fickling earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Texas at Austin in 2003 before teaching middle and high school English at a small private school in Austin. She later pursued a Master of Arts at Texas State University while working. After ten years in secondary education, Teri decided to return to academia to obtain a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin, which she completed in 2022. She is now an Assistant Professor of Instruction at UT, specializing in seventeenth and eighteenth-century British literature with a focus on the life and works of John Milton. Her work includes publications in Milton Studies and Milton Quarterly, and she is editing a forthcoming chapter titled 'Milton Networks of Disability, Embodiment, Care'. Teri's research interests encompass various literary genres, emphasizing women's writings from the 18th century and critical disability studies.
