Biography

Teri W. Odom is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Northwestern University. Her academic journey began at Stanford University where she received her Bachelor of Science in 1996. She then earned her PhD from Harvard University in 2001, followed by a NIH Postdoctoral Fellowship at Harvard in 2002. Professor Odom's research focuses on the design of structured nanoscale materials that exhibit exceptional properties. Her work seeks to transform ordinary materials into extraordinary ones by controlling architectures across multiple length scales using modeling to understand the properties of single structures and the collective effects in assemblies of nanoparticles. Her group conducts innovative research with applications in areas such as nanomedicine, nano-lasing, photovoltaics, and bioimaging, contributing to the advancement of materials science and nanotechnology.
