Biography

Terrence Blaschke is a Professor of Medicine in Molecular Pharmacology, Emeritus at Stanford University. He joined the faculty of Stanford University School of Medicine in 1974. Dr. Blaschke has played a significant role in research focused on the sources of variability in drug response. His studies have emphasized modeling pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) relationships. Recently, his clinical efforts have been directed towards improving patient adherence in tuberculosis and chronic diseases. Dr. Blaschke has authored 180 original publications in peer-reviewed journals and served as an Associate Editor for the Annual Review of Pharmacology and Toxicology. His academic appointments include being a faculty fellow at the Stanford Center for Innovation in Global Health and previous roles as Assistant Dean and Associate Dean for Medical Student Advising at Stanford. Over his career, he has received numerous honors, including the Henry J. Kaiser Award for Outstanding Contributions to Medical Education and the Rawls-Palmer Progress in Medicine Lecture Award. He holds a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Denver and an M.D. from Columbia University. His current research activities focus on clinical pharmacology related to drugs used in HIV-infected patients, exploring individual benefit/risk in pharmacotherapy and the relationships of antiviral drug exposure to virologic and toxicological responses.
