Dr. Terrence Tricco

Biography

Terrence Tricco is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Memorial University of Newfoundland. He is a data scientist, astrophysicist, and computational scientist with a broad interest in synthetic data generation across various domains using diverse techniques. His work primarily focuses on numerical details in smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) within astrophysical settings, where he builds high-performance simulation and analysis software. Tricco utilizes deep learning techniques for the generation of synthetic data. He serves as the development lead for the Phantom international collaboration, which aims to create a high-performance SPH code specialized in modeling galaxies, stars, accretion discs, and the interstellar medium. Additionally, he is involved in creating an open-source Python package for the analysis and visualization of astrophysical SPH data, known as Sarracen. He is also the principal investigator at the Centre for Analytics and Informatics Research (CAIR), which offers a high-performance computing cluster for the research community at Memorial University. Tricco collaborates with researchers at Verafin, focusing on synthetic data generation for financial data applications.
