Biography

Terrie E. Moffitt is a Nannerl O. Keohane University Distinguished Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience at Duke University. She is known for her expertise in longitudinal methods, developmental theory, mental disorders, antisocial behaviors, neuropsychology, and genomics. Her notable work includes being the Associate Director of the Dunedin Longitudinal Study, which follows a birth cohort from New Zealand. She co-founded the Environmental Risk Longitudinal Twin Study (E-Risk), tracking a birth cohort from the UK. A licensed clinical psychologist, Dr. Moffitt specializes in neuropsychological assessment and collaborates with a diverse array of professionals including criminologists, economists, and neuroscientists. She has received numerous accolades, including early career and distinguished career awards from the American Psychological Association and prestigious international recognitions such as the Stockholm Prize in Criminology and the Klaus J. Jacobs Research Prize. Additionally, Moffitt has been elected as a fellow in several esteemed organizations, including the National Academy of Medicine and the British Academy. She attained her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Southern California after an undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and postdoctoral training in geriatrics neuropsychology. In her free time, she engages in maintaining a poison-ivy farm in North Carolina.
