Dr. Terry Hemeyer

Biography

Terry Hemeyer is an Associate Professor of Practice at the Stan Richards School of Advertising and Public Relations, Moody College of Communication, at the University of Texas at Austin. With extensive experience in corporate, financial, and litigation communication, he has held top communication roles in Fortune 150 companies and has been recognized for his work in public relations. He has served as the executive VP at Edelman Worldwide and has a rich background in community relations, advertising, and media communication strategies. Hemeyer has received multiple awards including the Practitioner of the Year from the Texas PR Association and the Eyes of Texas award for his service to the University. He also held a prestigious position as a colonel in the U.S. Air Force, where he was awarded the Bronze Star for his service during the Vietnam War. In addition to his teaching, he serves as senior counsel at Pierpont Communications, advising clients in Houston, Austin, and Dallas. His educational background includes an M.A. in communication from the University of Denver and a B.S. in education from Ohio State University, along with an executive program at Stanford University.
