Tess Grainger is an Assistant Professor in the College of Biological Science at the University of Guelph. Her research primarily focuses on ecological and evolutionary processes that shape the natural world, with a particular emphasis on the impacts of global change, including climate change and habitat fragmentation. She investigates eco-evolutionary dynamics in spatially structured communities and the coexistence of invasive species. To address fundamental questions in ecology and evolutionary biology, she employs both laboratory and field experiments with plants and insects. Tess has a strong educational background, having obtained her BSc from the University of Victoria in 2008, an MSc from the University of British Columbia in 2012, and a PhD from the University of Toronto in 2018. After completing her PhD, she held a NSERC Postdoctoral Fellowship at Princeton University from 2018 to 2020, followed by a Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of British Columbia from 2020 to 2023. In the upcoming Fall semester of 2024, she will be teaching a laboratory and fieldwork course in ecology.
