Biography

Tessa Nicholl holds a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and a Master of Science in Pharmacology from the University of British Columbia (UBC). She completed a hospital residency in 1993 and gained clinical experience as a hospital pharmacist in 2000. Since joining UBC as a full-time instructor in 2011, she has developed and taught Pharmacy 499, a unique problem/case-based course without tutors. Tessa is also the co-lead for the dermatology and neuroscience modules in the E2P curriculum. From 2010 to 2013, she supervised students in developing models for the Pharmacists Clinic at UBC, creating a new education practice model that provided clinical pharmacist services in family physician practice sites. Tessa is committed to creating a motivating and empowering learning environment for her students, as evidenced by her published article in AJPE focused on enhancing learning assessments. She has received multiple teaching awards, including the UBC Killam Teaching Prize in 2013 and the AFPC Teacher of the Year award for several years.
