Biography

Tetsuhiro Harimoto received a B.S. in Biomedical Toxicology from the University of Toronto in 2014. After graduation, he worked as an Equity Research Associate at Morgan Stanley, focusing on the pharmaceutical and medical device industries. Tetsuhiro completed his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering at Columbia University, where he worked with Dr. Tal Danino on genetic engineering of microbes for novel drug delivery systems. In 2022, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University, mentored by Dr. David Mooney. His research focuses on developing engineered living materials for next-generation drug delivery systems, aiming to create fundamentally new approaches to drug delivery that engage microbes as intelligent living medicines. Tetsuhiro's innovative work has led him to be recognized among STAT’s Wunderkinds and named one of MIT Technology Review’s Innovators Under 35 in 2023.
