Thanasis Tsanas studied Engineering and completed his DPhil (PhD) in Applied Mathematics at the University of Oxford in 2012. He worked at the University of Oxford as a Research Fellow in Biomedical Engineering and Applied Mathematics (2012-2016) and held positions as a Stipendiary Lecturer in Engineering Science (2014-2016) and as a Lecturer in Statistical Research Methods (2016-2019). In October 2022, he became a Chair (Full Professor) in Digital Health Data Science. He founded and leads the Data Analytics Research Technology Healthcare (DARTH) group at the University, focusing on the application of data science in healthcare, particularly in time-series analysis and signal processing. His work includes longitudinal telemonitoring of chronic diseases and collaborations with industrial partners on various applied math and data science projects. He has received numerous awards for his contributions to research and education, including the Andrew Goudie award and the EPSRC Doctoral Prize award. He is also a senior member of the IEEE and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
