Dr. Themis Kyriakides

Biography

Themis R. Kyriakides is a Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Yale University. His research focuses on the cellular and molecular events at the interface of implanted biomaterials and tissues, particularly concerning biomaterial-induced inflammation, wound healing, and tissue regeneration. His work emphasizes angiogenesis and extracellular matrix remodeling. He conducts in vivo studies using genetically-modified mice and explores gene delivery systems via biomaterials. Additionally, he has investigated the development of biodegradable polymers and the modification of glucose sensors, as well as the engineering of artificial skin.
