Biography

Professor Eicher holds the Castor Professorship in Economics at the University of Washington. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from Columbia University in 1994. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Chinese Studies and Economics from Grinnell College. Eicher has served as Editor for the European Economic Review and is on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Macroeconomics, as well as being part of the Advisory Council for Revista de Ciencias Económicas. He is the founding director of the UW Economics Policy Research Center, which engages public and private sector stakeholders in vital discussions about economic policy in the region. Additionally, he is an Affiliate Professor at the Jackson School of International Studies and the Center for Global Studies at the University of Washington, as well as the Center for Statistics in the Social Sciences. Eicher has held visiting positions at prestigious institutions including the University of Aix-Marseille, the International Monetary Fund, and Oxford University among others. His research interests are widely recognized and contribute significantly to his fields of expertise.
