Biography

Theodor Meron is a leading scholar in international humanitarian law, human rights, and international criminal law. He serves as a Judge and has authored a dozen books on international law and chivalry, as well as more than a hundred articles that helped build the legal foundations of international criminal tribunals. Meron is a member of the Institute of International Law and the Council on Foreign Relations, and is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts. He has received numerous awards, honors, and medals including the Hudson Medal and the Haskins Prize. Additionally, he has been recognized as an Officer of the French Legion of Honour and a Grand Officier of the National Order of Merit. He has served as the honorary President of the American Society of International Law and was the past Editor-in-Chief of the American Journal of International Law.
