Biography

Emeritus Professor at Boston University's School of Public Health, Theodore Colton has over 50 years of experience in biostatistical and epidemiologic collaboration, consultation, and education for health professionals. He chaired the BUSPH Epidemiology and Biostatistics Department from 1980 to 1999 and initiated the Epidemiology Doctoral Program. As a founding editor of the journal Statistics in Medicine and co-editor-in-chief of the Encyclopedia of Biostatistics, he has significantly influenced the fields of biostatistics and epidemiology. Colton authored a widely used textbook, Statistics in Medicine, and has been involved in numerous clinical trials as a co-investigator, particularly at Boston Medical Center. His research interests encompass cancer epidemiology, infant and child health, and vision research.
