Theo Issaias is an architect and educator currently serving as Special Faculty at Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Architecture. His research focuses on the intersection of architecture, human rights, and conflict, particularly emphasizing the provision of shelter in times of crisis. His Ph.D. dissertation titled "Architectures Humanitarian Front" explored the consequences of World War I on displacement and territorial insecurity, which provoked a reconfiguration of humanitarian operations and raised ethical imperatives in spatial organization. He is also a co-founder of FATURA Collaborative, a research and design practice established in 2009 that advocates for a non-hierarchical approach to addressing complex issues through collaborative research involving experts from various fields such as geography, law, and political science. The work of the FATURA Collaborative encompasses a wide range of scales, including intimate objects and urban design projects, and has been presented in notable exhibitions such as the Venice Biennale and the Acropolis Museum. Theo holds a Master of Science in Architecture and Urbanism from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
