Theoni Georgiou holds a B.Sc. in Chemistry and a Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry from the University of Cyprus, completed in 2001 and 2006, respectively. After her Ph.D., she joined Professor Antonios Mikos' research group at Rice University, USA, as a Postdoctoral Fellow. In October 2007, she moved to the UK under a five-year RCUK Fellowship in Colloidal Nanotechnology at the University of Hull, where she progressed to a Lectureship by November 2012. Georgiou joined Imperial College London as a Lecturer in 2014, advancing to Senior Lecturer in 2016 and Reader in 2019. In 2022, she became a full Professor. She was awarded the Macro Group UK Young Researchers Medal in 2016 for her contributions to polymer science. Currently, she serves as an Associate Editor for the European Polymer Journal and her research focuses on the synthesis and characterization of polymers for various applications, including drug and gene delivery, tissue engineering, and developing thermoresponsive polymers and block copolymers for self-assembly. She actively encourages Ph.D. applicants and promotes postgraduate scholarships for international students.
