Professor Theresa Burt De Perera is a leading researcher in the field of Animal Behaviour, focusing on the behavioral mechanisms that underpin spatial cognition. Her work aims to unravel the fundamental processes that enable animals to navigate effectively within their own habitats. Utilizing both theoretical and empirical approaches, Professor Burt De Perera studies the sensory modalities that animals rely upon to gather information about their local surroundings. Her research explores how information is learned, remembered, and recalled to facilitate efficient navigation. As a Tutorial Fellow at St John’s College and Associate Head of the Department of Biology, she is involved in advancing understanding in her field through her research group and publication efforts.
