Biography

Thet Htar graduated with a Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) in 1999 from the University of Wales in Cardiff, United Kingdom. After completing pre-registration training at West Wales General Hospital, he became a registered pharmacist and a member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain. He pursued his doctorate in Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Wales in Cardiff, which he completed in early 2004. He initially worked as an academic lecturer in medicinal chemistry at UCSI University, Malaysia, where he taught from 2004 until 2009, when he joined Monash University in Malaysia as an academic researcher. His research interests include small molecule synthesis, molecular docking simulation studies, and molecular imaging, with a focus on breast cancer. He has supervised multiple PhD and Master students and is committed to consulting in his areas of expertise. His teaching responsibilities involve undergraduate pharmacy course units, particularly in medicinal chemistry. Dr. Htar's research focuses on developing new receptor-targeted fluorescent probes for breast cancer imaging, as well as studying enzyme inhibition related to anti-HIV agents and molecular dynamics.
