Thien Dang-Vu obtained his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree in 2004 from the University of Liège in Belgium. He then completed a specialization in neurology and a Ph.D. in biomedical sciences at the same university. He undertook a first postdoctoral fellowship at the Department of Neurology at Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard Medical School) in Boston, along with another postdoctoral fellowship at the Centre for Advanced Studies in Sleep Medicine at Sacré-Coeur Hospital in Montreal. He has received several scientific awards from organizations such as the Canadian Sleep Society, Sleep Research Society, European Sleep Research Society, Belgian Association for Sleep Research and Sleep Medicine, and Belgian Neurological Society. He is currently an Associate Professor and holds the Canada Research Chair in Sleep, Neuroimaging, and Cognitive Health at Concordia University, as well as a Clinical Research Associate at the University Institute of Geriatrics of Montreal, where he is also an Adjunct Clinical Professor at the Department of Neurosciences at the University of Montreal. His research focuses on the pathophysiology of sleep disorders and the role of sleep in cognition, employing tools such as EEG and brain imaging.
