Dr. Thijs Van Ede

Biography

Thijs van Ede is an Assistant Professor at the University of Twente, specializing in Semantics and Cybersecurity within the Cybersecurity Services group. His research focuses on security automation, machine learning integration, and AI techniques for developing effective security solutions. He is particularly interested in the application of large language models (LLMs) to enhance network intrusion detection and continuous integration systems in dynamic environments. Thijs aims to improve anomaly detection and contextual security analysis by leveraging deep neural networks and Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques for cyber threat intelligence sharing. He strongly advocates for open and collaborative science, enabling researchers to access and utilize research findings swiftly. In addition to his academic work, Thijs enjoys participating in Capture The Flag (CTF) competitions and is actively involved with the Twente Hacking Squad, the university's student hacking team.
