Biography

Dr. Armstrong’s current research includes the study of work-related musculoskeletal disorders, the development of biomechanical models studying handwork, and the examination of surgical procedures, training, and health outcomes. He is also focused on the development of computer tools for the analysis and design of manual work. Dr. Armstrong serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Human Factors and the Ergonomics Journal of Occupational Rehabilitation. He is a Fellow of the American Industrial Hygiene Association and the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society in the USA, as well as the Ergonomics Society in Great Britain and a member of the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists. He has received the ACGIH Wagner Award in 2019 for his contributions to the development of Threshold Limit Values for musculoskeletal disorders. Additionally, Dr. Armstrong is a Certified Industrial Hygienist and Certified Professional Ergonomist, and is licensed as a commercial pilot.
