Biography

Tom Atwood completed his medical school training at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and his family medicine residency training at Brown University. Before joining the Brown Family Medicine Residency faculty in 2023, he worked as a hospitalist and primary care provider in Massachusetts. In addition to providing primary care, Dr. Atwood supervises residents in Family Medicine Inpatient Services at Miriam Hospital and Kent Hospital. His clinical research interests include Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, inpatient medicine, medical education, and complex care coordination. Dr. Atwood's research is focused on optimizing the family medicine inpatient curriculum at Brown, aiming to enhance the learning experience for residents and improve patient care outcomes.
